Altered Images and I Love the 80s DJ set play Holmfirth

One of the brightest stars in the 80’s new wave sky, Altered Images, are best remembered for their no.1 single Happy Birthday. Their bubbly lead singer Clare Grogan originally shot to fame in the film Gregory’s Girl, then later went onto appear in Red Dwarf, EastEnders, Skins and was a presenter on music station VH1.

Altered Images quickly had worldwide success, selling millions of records, which topped the charts in several countries. They recorded 3 Top 10 Albums and had 6 UK top 40 hits. They were voted Best New Group at the NME awards the same year they were invited to play at The Royal Command Performance.

Clare Grogan has worked extensively in Music, Film, Television, Theatre and Radio for 30+years. The summer she left school her band Altered Images were signed to Sony Records and Clare appeared in the BAFTA winning comedy GREGORY’S GIRL directed by Bill Forsyth

As well as being the singer for Altered Images, Clare has presented film, travel and music shows for TV and radio including the BBC’s The One Show. She has presented for BBC 6Music and BBC Radio Scotland. Her recent Radio 4 comedy and dramas include Romance and Adventure alongside Josie Long, Rumbunch with Mel Giedroyc and the serialisation of Modesty Blaise. She also recently started hosting a new show for Absolute 80’s. Her debut novel Tallulah and the Teen Stars reached No 2 in the Waterstone’s Children’s Book Chart. Clare has been on tour for the first time in 13 years – she enjoyed misbehaving in between singing.
