The Receivers are becoming one of the staples of the York music scene. They burst onto our radar in May 2017, playing a headline gig at The Fulford Arms after having signed with Alya Records. Since then, nothing has held them back, not even a pandemic.

Their new single Only Human is their first release post-lockdown. The title seems apt, given we’ve all had a timely reminder of our humanity. I’m impressed by how their sound has developed over the past few years. The Receivers have graduated to a strong, modern example of British indie rock, with layered guitar and sing along choruses.
