Meyad is a British indie folk singer songwriter whose powerful new song Beirut is dedicated to his late brother.
By Graeme Smith
Beirut has such an authentic sense of storytelling to it that I couldn’t help but immediately be drawn in by it. Meyad’s vocals are soft and emotive, and he brings his dedication to life through imagery and vulnerability. The icing on the cake is the folky instrumental arrangement, which adds percussion, strings and piano to acoustic guitar.
Truly independent, Meyad arranged and recorded the track in a shed in Twickenham. You wouldn’t believe it by how professional it sounds. Have a listen for yourself below.
