I first discovered Liverpool’s Screentalk for the blog back in February of this year, and we’ve become fans of them here at York Calling. They’ve just released their latest, inspired by being there for someone struggling with mental health issues. It’s called Girl In The Sky.

Girl In The Sky combines rock and pop elements but its overall vibe is one of deep emotional connection. A gentle, electronic-infused arrangement in the verse gives way to sweeping, passionate choruses. Perhaps what stood out most for me though, is its lyrics, rich with poetry and imagery.
Since we last checked in with Screentalk, they’ve been making an impact in their home city, headlining EBGBS and supporting California’s Velvet Starlings. They’ll be branching out and playing in Manchester on 2 September.
