London-based alternative rock act Lusa Morena burst onto our radar in May this year through their electrifying debut single Six Sessions. Now I’m pleased to say their back with a new one that shows a distinctly different side to their sound. It’s called Where’s The Spark (If Not In You).

While Six Sessions hit hard in a blues rock sort of way, Where’s The Spark is a slow, more gentle piece of classic rock with folk elements. What ties the two tracks together, however, are the lyrics that meditate on themes of mental health, and the darker moments we all find ourselves in. As before, front woman and songwriter Bárbara is the star of the show. Her soft, expressive and lilting vocals bring the emotional journey of the lyrics to life.
I’m so excited by what Lusa Morena are doing. They’re bringing something really fresh and unique to the alternative rock scene. I can’t wait to hear what they do next.
