Rumara are the London-based duo of vocalist Laura V and producer Yujin Matsutoya. Named for the Portuguese word rumar, which translates as ‘to move towards’ there certainly is a sense of the dynamic about their sound. Their latest is called Teeth.

The first thing that struck me about Teeth was its interesting textures. Glittering percussion meets moody synth in its opening. The second thing that struck me was its strong sense of emotion. Laura’s vocals are instantly captivating, with a touch of Kate Bush about them during an intricate verse. The emotion is ramped up during an expansive chorus where the track really hits its stride.
Teeth is such a beautiful and rewarding introduction to Rumara for me. I can’t wait to hear more from them and I hope you’ll agree. You can check out the track below.
