How was your 2022?
My 2022 felt like 3 years in one, but it ended up being a great and productive year for me. I began my artist journey in July of 2022 and finished off the year with one of my favorite songs to date, Chosen.
You recently released a single titled Chosen, which we reviewed. What can you tell us about the single?
Chosen is one of my favorite songs that I have written because it is so honest from start to finish. It is about loving wholly, unconditionally and honestly, because at the end of the day the soul chooses its mate. I love this song because it is so honest from start to finish. Every word was intentionally chosen which to me adds to the vulnerability within the song.
How has the reception been for Chosen, and where can it be purchased?
I believe Chosen was well received. A few of my fans reached out to me personally and said that it was their favorite song to date. It is available on all streaming platforms, and can be purchased on iTunes and Amazon Music, as well as anywhere music is sold or streamed.
Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?
I definitely plan on releasing more singles in the near future, and I have already released 2 since the release of Chosen. I released Only One in January of 2023 and Love Land in February; both songs are available on all digital streaming platforms.
Are there any plans to release an EP or album?
Yes, I am planning to release my first EP in April which will be followed up with a longer mixtape later on this year. It will be titled Out In The Open, so be on the lookout for it.
A big part of your musical discovery was your life growing up in the church. Is this still something important to you?
Absolutely, gospel music helped to spark my love for music. I tend to do more songwriting when it comes to gospel music, but it is definitely still a large part of my life and my journey.
Your music has a contemporary r&b sound.. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?
There are so many incredible artists who I love to listen to and who have influenced me. I really enjoy artists like the Weeknd, H.E.R. and Kehlani, and as of late I have been really enjoying SZA’s S.O.S album.
You’re based in California. What is the local music scene like?
The local music scene is very diverse and there are so many incredible artists based in California as well. Because the scene is diverse, it allows me to also be a little more experimental in my sound which is something I definitely appreciate.
Do you have any UK tour dates lined up?
Eventually I would love to go on tour to the UK! A good portion of my listeners reside in the UK, so it would be great to meet them all and put on a show.
Any last words for the fans?
Thank you to every single person who has streamed, shared, and listened to my music. There is so much more to come, and I look forward to sharing it all!
