Fake Dad are a New York, USA-based alternative pop duo made up of Andrea De Varona and Josh Ford. They’ve just come to my attention thanks to their retro-inspired track New Machines.

New Machines channels the hopelessness faced by younger generations, burdened by news of ecological breakdown, into a positive form of expression. New Machines is a surprisingly light piece of dream pop, given the topic, and its laidback style feels the right way to get the listener to absorb its hard-hitting lyrics.
Fake Dad’s sound is inspired by the likes of Remi Wolf, Dora Jar and Talking Heads, and New Machines is a must-listen for fans of those acts. You can check out the track below.
