Rushkeys is a project created by Lithuanian producer and musician Domas Ruškys, blending catchy melodies with a house sensibility. I’m not normally a massive fan of EDM but there was something about his track, Kira, that really caught my attention. Find out more about Rushkeys below!

You released a single titled Kira. What can you tell us about the track?
Kira is the most rhythmic and upbeat tune on my new EP. The idea of the track came about when I was visiting my favorite city Barcelona and I heard a group of people drumming and others dancing to it in the park. The word Kira means beam of light. It symbolizes this sunny city and the coming spring and is inspired by the rhythmic beauty of the world.
How has the reception to Kira been so far, and where can the song be purchased?
I am very happy that this single and the whole new EP has been really well received. In my music I try to express myself in truth and enjoy the process, so the biggest appreciation is when I see people’s interest in what I do, it really encourages to keep creating.

Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?
I’m already working on new material and some interesting collaborations, which I hope to share soon.
You recently released an EP, titled Outlook. What can you tell us about the EP?
It is released on the Stereofox label, which I’ve been following for a long time. I am very happy to find a home as an artist and meet a team that really understands and supports my vision. This EP is like a summary of the changes that happened in both my musical and personal life, so it is inspired by my experiences. To convey this, I used textural field recordings from a diverse variety of places. I also played my new digital wind instrument, the Roland Aerophone, for the first time on this EP, giving my tracks a distinctive instrumental speech.
Your music has an electronic, chillwave sound. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?
There are many artists I’ve been listening to lately and it’s hard to choose specific names. As a teenager, I grew up listening to a lot of instrumental hip-hop music, but at the same time, I was also interested in electronic and dance sounds. I was curious about combining these two elements: the flow of sample-based hip-hop and the energy of dance music and wanted to find a middle ground without straying too much into one or another genre. Probably the first artist I heard doing this was Bonobo, who naturally explored more upbeat approaches from the trip-hop aesthetic.
You’re based in Lithuania. How is the local music scene faring at the moment?
I think that the local music scene in my country is doing really well. As a small country, we have interesting artists and an active cultural life here.
Any last words for the fans?
Thanks for everyone who is following my journey. Listen to the music you love and support your favorite artists, it really means a lot to them.
