Manchester based Sophro are an Avant Garde electronic act that have just hit my radar thanks to their intriguing new track and video, Emerald Green.
By Graeme Smith
The track opens with breathy vocalisations before delicate electronic layers come in. It’s a slow grower, deliberately building tension and atmosphere before soulful vocals float in. The accompanying video paints a vibrant, psychedelic image with a mix of the natural and supernatural.
Sophro are Deimante Pranckeviciute on vocals and keys, Aden George Peets on drums and Matt Gorrie on bass. The three met at university and are influenced by the likes of Bjork, Little Dragon and Four Tet.
Emerald Green was recorded at Samuel William Jones Studio and the University of Salford studios. You can watch its video below.
