Interview: Samantha LaPorta

Samantha LaPorta is an amazing new artist I’ve recently discovered, creating ethereal sounding alt pop songs with a difference. She’s had quite an interesting life in the music industry, and her latest release Lies Are Your Truth is absolutely amazing, so I really wanted to have a chat with Samantha to find out more!

By Jane Howkins

You recently released a single titled Lies Are Your Truth. What can you tell us about the track?

This record is big energy with haunting lyrics. I’ve heard from so many people about how much they love it.

How has the reception to the song been so far, and where can the song be purchased?

Lies Are Your Truth was released worldwide and the reaction has been amazing.

Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?

Absolutely, some songs stand alone but I also want to write on a project where the songs work to create a story or theme.

Are there any plans to release an album or EP anytime soon?

Yes! I’m heading to Los Angeles in August to work on my first EP.

You were discovered by Radio Disney at the age of 13 and wrote, performed and hosted on the platform at the time. How was that? How were you discovered?

I was just one of the many that auditioned for Radio Disney and they gave me a shot that turned into creating music for that platform for years. After a few years, I was asked to guest host the Top 10 Countdown, which was a lot of fun .

Your music has an alt-pop sound. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?

I pull inspiration from many artists. Currently I’m listening to a lot of Tori Amos and Jewel.

Where are you based? What is the local music scene like at the moment?

I’m based in Nashville where you can find live music in every genre.

Do you have anything else exciting coming up this year?

I’m heading to Los Angeles to work on my first EP.

Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?

In 2020 I licensed 2 songs with a UK record label and had plans to be there, but the pandemic changed everything. I’d love to join a tour with the new EP.

Any last words for the fans?

I’d love for you to check my music out and let me know what you think. I love connecting with people over music. The link to my website is: www.samanthalapo…a.com/
