American musician Paola Bennett first came to our attention in 2021. Her single In This Body delighted Jane thanks to its mix of indie pop, folk and rock elements. In the same year, I shared her EP Maybe The Light and now she’s back on the blog thanks to her new track all about the tipping point from desire into something more vulnerable. It’s called Call Home.
By Graeme Smith
Call Home opens slow and brooding with a gentle and atmospheric folk rock arrangement. The intro gives way to a verse with delicate and compelling vocals and storytelling lyrics that paint a picture of authentic romance before the chorus gives us a moment of reluctant hope. It could well be Paola’s most beautiful track yet.
Paola was born in Boston and is now based in New York City. Others have picked up on her unique sound and she’s been labelled an “artist to watch.” Paula co-produced Paul home with long time producer Adam Tilzer. You can give the track a listen below.
