Juliano is one of my favourite classical composers at the moment, and Midnight Sonata is another worthy addition to his catalogue.

Midnight Sonata is astoundingly beautiful from the start – it’s a purely piano-based piece, but it sounds gorgeous enough with just the one instrument. The piano has a nice flowing sound, as the left hand performs a set of wonderous arpeggios. The right hand changes slightly as the piece progresses, playing a number of captivating motifs that really draw you into the German composer’s world. Midnight Sonata has a subtle beauty, sounding heartbreakingly poignant at times, making this a must listen for all classical fans.
