Cosmo Sheldrake is a British alternative indie pop artist who has just burst onto my radar thanks to the release of his latest track and video. Both are wonderfully inventive and surreal and called Stop The Music.

Together, Stop The Music‘s composition and video are a fever dream. The music is quite unlike anything I’ve heard before, out there and yet wonderfully accessible. I found myself instantly in love with it within a few bars, and the soulful and characterful vocals seal the deal. An animated video renders it all even more vibrantly to life. It’s an early contender for track of the year for me.
Cosmo Sheldrake is currently touring the UK and EU with most dates already sold out (including, unfortunately for us, his closest stop at Belgrave Music Hall in Leeds.) He does still have tickets available for London on 12 April and 4 May, and Bristol on 15 April and 2 May if you’re in the neighbourhood. Tickets are obtainable here.
Stop The Music will feature on his second studio album Eye to the Ear, set for release on 12 April. It was mixed by King Krule collaborator Dilip Harris. You can watch its video below.
