American composer Claire Bigley has become one of my favourite classical musicians in recent months, and it’s not hard to see why with Phoenix!

Phoenix is quite a unique piece of work, opening with some ambient backing sounds that lend themselves more to the neoclassical genre. A slow piano melody soon appears, meandering slightly as the music progresses. It’s very different from anything else I’ve heard by Claire, but it’s great to see a composer of this nature breaking out and trying something different. It’s really haunting to behold, having an almost eerie touch to it – why not give it a go below?
