Naomi Rush is a Bristol-based artist who has caught my attention with her debut solo single. A conversation between an adult and their child self, it’s called Anima.
By Graeme Smith
When Naomi first approached a career in music, as part of the band Pixi Encore, she was put off by its competitiveness and tendency to leave one fatigued, but her relationship with music changed when she discovered music therapy and began singing with Choir Noir (who have worked with Bring Me The Horizon, among others). Since then, her song writing has focussed on themes of connection and humanity.
Naomi worked with producer Matt the Vessel for her single Anima, a relationship going right back to 2021. It’s a track that instantly draws you in with a stripped-back start that gradually develops into a vibrant and emotional electronic rock journey. There aren’t many out there making music like Naomi is with Anima. The genre spectrum on display is impressive, sitting somewhere between heavy metal, electronic pop and anime theme tunes.
You can give Anima a listen below.
