Interview: The Project

The Project is an awesome new band fronted by James Davis, creating a form of country-rock with a classic rock edge. Their sound is well displayed in new release, what’s it going to take, and I predict big things for the band! Learn more about The Project in our interview with James below.

You recently released a new single titled what’s it going to take. What can you tell us about the track?

My producer Dennis Hill had a big part in crafting it – we sat down and wrote the song and he produced it. I’m having a blast working with him – if anybody lucky enough gets the chance to work with him you won’t be disappointed. The guy is crazy talented, from songwriting to playing to producing and recording.

How has the reception to what’s it going to take been so far, and where can it be purchased?

So far, it’s doing really good on the steaming services – people love a good ballad and it’s available anywhere you can get music.

The track also features Mykele Hill. How did the collaboration come about?

Well, I heard one of her songs and I’ve seen her play live locally and was impressed. She’s a great talent and I think she has a big future ahead of her in the music biz.

Are there any plans to release an album or EP in the near future?

Yes by June the whole album should be out – right now we are releasing singles ever 4 weeks.

Do you have any other singles planned for release soon?

Our new single Hope came out on March 1st.

Your music has an old school rock and roll sound. What/who are you most influenced by?

A lot of the 80s and 90s artists – I’m a big fan of Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, etc.

You’re based in LA. What is the local music scene like in your area?

There’s a few really good bands like Pump5 that are incredible and we will probably be doing some shows together this summer.

Do you have anything else exciting coming up in the next few months?

A lot of new songs – we will be starting a tour on June 15th to support the album.

Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?

We are booking shows right now. The first show will be in California on June 15th at a festival and we are looking at hitting the UK in late summer/early fall.

Any last words for the fans?

Our new single Hope is out everywhere now.
