Cybophonia breaks genre boundaries with adventurous new album

Combining the intimacy of acoustic with the vibrancy of dream pop, Nothing More is the latest experimental album from Cybophonia.

Cybophonia is the project of Eros Minichiello, a musician and producer based in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. He’s debuting our blog, catching my attention with his new album, Nothing More.

The album is actually something of a shift in terms of his usual style, trading film and TV soundtracks and chillout tracks for a sound that’s sumptuously difficult to define. Its genre-bending is beautifully typified by the single Resurrected Love which sits at the heart of the album and bristles with reluctant romance and the thrill of adventure. The voice is used as an instrument during its slow-building intro before we launch head first into a dreamy, dizzying pop effort.

The track, of course, doesn’t tell the whole story on an eclectic album that makes forays into bossa nova, folk rock, jazz and hip-hop. Throughout its thirteen tracks, the artistry on display is breath-taking and I always found myself pleasantly surprised by what was around the next sonic corner.

Cybophonia is out now and you can give it a listen below.
