Discovery: The Hope The Fear give us Northern reality with latest single

The DIY project of Leeds-based multi-instrumentalist Alexander Fletcher, The Hope The Fear is new to our blog thanks to his new single, Fall Right At The Start.

By Graeme Smith

Previously supported by BBC Introducing Leeds and Sheffield, I feel a little late to the party with The Hope The Fear. Better late than never, I suppose. Sonically, the project sits somewhere between The Killers and Sam Fender on the indie pop rock spectrum.

New single, Fall Right At The Start, is about the inequalities of growing up in a Northern, working-class town and with that comes relatable lyrics, anthemic choruses and plenty of jangly guitars. Alexander’s voice is certainly the star of the show, though, giving us plenty of soul and gruff, Northern edge.

Fall Right At The Start was recorded at The Green Room. It’s out now and you can give it a listen below.
