British-Canadian producer Alfred Hermida, who performs as In The Afterglow, first came to our attention in August 2024 through his debut shoegaze single, Lives In Tandem.
By Graeme Smith
It was a track that I described in my review as “[in a world] where dream pop and shoegaze meet.” His latest single, The Life That Could Be, takes his sound into a rockier direction, giving us raw, edgy riffs that nicely contrast the gentle vocals that float over the top. Lyrically, it proposes a better world just out of reach, a utopian sentiment supported by its ’60s psychedelic undertones.
Based in Vancouver, Canada, Alfred enhances his compositions using Udio Beta AI technology.
The Life That Could Be is out now, available to buy as a digital track on Bandcamp. You can give it a listen below.
