L’ESPIRAL have hit our radar with their second release from their upcoming debut album. It’s called Mr. Babylon.
By Graeme Smith
There’s a brightness to the American duo’s new track that brings to mind the early ’90s rock of Primal Scream. An easy melody sets the tone, as does Zoë Bleu’s charismatic vocals. They deliver lyrics that are rich with psychedelic imagery. I was hooked.
“The song is about a woman mourning lost love and finding that, beyond the death of a relationship, her memories live on in the dream worlds she has built inside herself,” Bleu explains. “The song reflects that, even in love’s afterlife, life continues to bloom in silent and unexpected ways.”
L’ESPIRAL is made up of Bleu and Reggie Debris, who provides the music. The pair have an obvious chemistry and a classic sound. Mr. Babylon is one of the best tracks I’ve heard in awhile. It’s out now and you can give it a listen below.
