Wolfgang Webb unveils video for his pivotal track, Clap

Featuring on Wolfgang Webb‘s recent album, THE LOST BOY, his track Clap now comes complete with a video.

By Graeme Smith

While Clap was an illustrative track on THE LOST BOY, so pivotal that is earns a reprise, it feels as if it’s the release of its colourful video that completes it.

Clap is a delicate and measured track, things open with a minimal, looping acoustic composition before Webb’s gritty, growling vocals come on. The lyrics have an understated emotiveness to them, making strong use of repetition. Mournful strings add some texture. The total package proves positively gripping. I was hanging on every word and note, and mesmerised by its video.

Webb describes Clap as a song of “emotional inheritance” and there’s a depth to it that demands multiple listens. Revisiting it reminds me of what a unique and interesting artist he is and how rewarding his music can be when you approach it with an open mind.

Clap is out now and you can give it a listen below.
