A combination of former Nine Black Alps and Sewage Farm frontman Sam Forrest and the heavyweight rhythm section of Eddie Alan Logie and Dom Smith, Strange Pink are a local act we’re looking forward to getting to know better.
By Graeme Smith
They’ve come to our attention through My Friend And You, a frenetic, grungy punk song about sharing an apocalypse. Forrest was inspired by the end of Covid lockdown as well as the sound of Thurston Moore and the lyrics of Kim Gordon.
Of course, Forrest is the man with name recognition in the band, but avid readers will know Logie and Smith too. They played together in Mary And The Ram who have featured on these pages. Smith has regularly popped up through his music, and his Wobbling About and Rocking Out project, something I’ve interviewed him about on our podcast.
Strange Pink feels like a lethal combination, and they’ve got the heavy sound that supports the claim. My Friend And You is out now, and you can listen to it below.
