Japanese musical artist yuki is fairly new on the music scene, but already he’s producing fantastically unique pieces of music like his song FEEL IT TONIGHT, which you can stream at the end of this interview. It’s a brand new single which I’ve been very excited about after having a sneaky advance listen last month! Find out more about the track and yuki below!

How has your year been so far? Anything particularly exciting you’d like to tell us about?
My previous track was released through Melodic Basement Records. However, to expand my career and take full control of my music, I decided to establish my own independent label for my recent two singles. Balancing production with my new role as a label owner has been a highly fresh and stimulating experience.
You have a brand new single out in August titled FEEL IT TONIGHT. What can you tell us about the song? Are you excited for the release?
I’m really looking forward to the release. The track features heavy 7-string guitar riffs blended with melodic dubstep elements, which is my signature style. I included an emotional guitar solo and vocal chops to make it catchy, making the instrumental easy to listen to.
You’ve already released one single this year – feel U. What can you tell us about that song and how was the reception?
It has a similar style to my new track, but it leans a bit more towards a more melodic and catchy sound. Because of that, I decided to take a harder approach for the new one. While feel U received decent feedback from labels and curators, there were issues during the release, such as non-functional links, which ruined the promotion. To be honest, it was a rather frustrating experience.
Do you plan to release any more singles after FEEL IT TONIGHT?
Yes, I’m already selecting and working on the next single.
Are there any plans to release a full-length album or EP in the near future?
Looking at the current music scene, releasing a full-length album or EP doesn’t seem practical, so I will focus entirely on singles for the time being.
You’re from Tokyo.. What is the current music scene like in your part of the city?
Melodic dubstep, and dubstep in general, remains a minor genre here, and its recognition is low since many listeners in Japan only listen to domestic music. However, some anime song composers do incorporate trendy EDM-style arrangements into their work.
What/who would you say are your main musical influences?
In terms of music production, my main influence is Seven Lions. As an artist and creator, I am deeply inspired by Kurt Cobain.
Do you perform live much? What can fans expect from one of your concerts?
I don’t plan to focus on performing live, but if I do take to the stage, it will likely be a DJ style where I play the 7-string guitar live.
Are there any plans for a UK tour anytime soon?
I don’t have any concrete plans yet, but I’d go immediately if invited or given the opportunity. The UK is definitely a country I want to visit, especially since it’s home to so many of my favorite musicians like Jimmy Page, Phil Lynott and Tony Iommi.
Any last words for the fans?
I’m not originally a very prolific creator, and there was a period when my activities stalled due to various circumstances. However, I plan to put myself out there more consistently moving forward, so please keep an eye on what’s coming next.
