I’m a big fan of the punk and rock genres, so as soon as I heard Doll Riot’s self-titled EP Doll Riot, I knew I would love it! It’s generally a punk album, but there are also elements of rock, garage rock, surf rock and classic rock and roll present in the mix, making for an fantastic sound overall!

There are but three songs on the EP, leaving you longing for more! The first song up is 300 Years, which starts out sounding like a surf rock song, with a prominent bassline mixing well with the surf style guitars. The track soon changes into a full on punk song, although the verses come back to the surf rock sound occasionally, making it all sound very unique!
Parasthesia is a little heavier than the previous song, with huge riffs opening it up. The music sounds a little raw in terms of the production quality, but it really works with the style of the track. It’s an intense song, with the vocals having an urgency to them that fits the rhythm and guitar melodies well. The chorus is catchy, with harmonised vocals being the name of the game here.
Closing song Fuck You opens with the bassline, as the guitar melodies are added to follow the bass. It’s a typical three chord punk song, with the verses having a slightly mellower quality, although they still sound pretty intense. The vocals sound very clear on the verses, before the heavier chorus kicks in, drawing the listener into Doll Riot’s punky world.
Doll Riot are a fantastic new punk band, for those who like their punk a little different from the norm. Doll Riot comes highly recommended from me and I’ll certainly be checking out more of their music as it’s released!
