New Music: Tilda Allie – Say No

Sweden-born, London-based Tilda Allie first hit my radar in August thanks to her experimental track Rocket Me High. Her latest is equally boundary-pushing. Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of ikigai, it’s called Say No.

Ikigai, or reason for being, is the concept of finding your life’s purpose in order to achieve bliss. Tilda ruminates on this idea in both Say No and her new EP, also called Ikigai. In the single, the Japanese influences come through strongly, blending with Western pop and R&B sensibilities. The star as always is Tilda’s expressive and powerful vocals that become chant-like in this track.

Tilda invites comparisons with FKA Twigs, Björk, and Little Dragon with her music, but really she’s creating something truly unique. I’m always excited to hear more from her. I hope you’ll agree. You can check out Say No below.
