New Music: Betty Reed – Shallow End

Nashville, USA-based singer songwriter Betty Reed has featured on our blog a couple of times now. First through her acoustic EP Mistakes Made, Lessons Learned back in March, and more recently through her single Without You over the summer. Now’s she’s back with a new alternative pop offering. It’s called Shallow End.

Shallow End is a meditation on depression, specially about the complex and conflicting emotion that it brings. Betty likens it to a swimming pool, and how depression can feel like struggling to stay afloat, even where the water is shallow. Through this metaphor, her expressive vocals and the track’s rich electronic instrumentals, she’s able to articulate this feeling beautifully.

It’s another wonderfully strong piece from an artist who never fails to impress with her unique brand of emotive pop. You can give Shallow End a listen below.
