Ilona Mahieu is a Guildford-based alternative rock band fronted by Ilona Pointeau. Originally a solo act, Ilona always envisioned herself playing in a band, and got the chance when joined by friends Emma Taylor on drums and Mark Fifield on guitar and bass. Their latest track and video is called Ribcage.

Ribcage is all about the unhealthy coping mechanisms we probably all have experience of. We think they’re helping but in reality, when you look deep down in yourself, you realise they’re just making things worse. That sense of introspection runs prominently through Ribcage, in both its dark and emotive instrumentals and Ilona’s captivating vocal performance.
It’s a stunning offering from a band that’s bringing something fresh, interesting and complex to the world of British rock. I’m excited to see what they do next. You can check out the video for Ribcage below.
