Abby Simone is a Singapore-born, Europe-based contemporary R&B artist who has just hit my radar thanks to her emotive new song Walking Away.
By Graeme Smith
Walking Away explores the concept of absence as it pertains to long distance relationships, and how we are likely to try and suppress our pain. As such, there is a sense of melancholy about it, but a subtle brightness too. Abby’s vocals are utterly captivating and the imagery in her lyrics linger.
Abby grew up in a Tamil household in Singapore. Dedicated to Christianity, she listened to Destiny’s Child and Avril Lavigne on the down-low and that mix of hymns and pop inform her sound.
