Sval is a Norwegian alternative pop artist who has just caught my attention thanks to her new team up with regular collaborator Jimi Somewhere. It’s called ANGELA.

ANGELA is a bittersweet love story where circumstances mean that the relationship is doomed from the start. It opens with a delicate acoustic arrangement before percussion and Sval’s compelling vocals come in. It builds to a dreamy chorus, rich with emotion and atmosphere. The second verse belongs to Jimi, providing some great vocal textures.
Though only in her early twenties, Sval has a decade in the industry under her belt already. It’s only in the past few years that the English-speaking world has woken up to her, though. I’m glad I have. She’s got definite star quality.
