Discovery: Sloe Honey

Sloe Honey is Los Angeles, USA-based singer songwriter Melissa Trinchere. She produces wonderfully deep and unconventional indie folk and has caught my attention through her new track Torch.

By Graeme Smith

Torch is vibrant track that incorporates old fashioned folk instrumentals with modern sensibilities. A cantering piano melody opens things, and it’s adorned by clicks and whistles, as well as Melissa’s wonderfully emotive vocals. Listening to the track is such a rich experience, and utterly mesmerising.

Melissa loves to explore the meaning of words and compiled her performing name around the fact that her name means “honey bee”, as well as referencing the Fiona Apple song Slow Like Honey. Her love for Etymology comes through clearly in her clever song writing. You can check out Torch below.
