New Music: Fearn – Live Away

South coast-based Will Taylor, aka Fearn, has graced these pages a few times now. He first came to my attention in May last year thanks to his track Waiting Room, and we’ve followed that up with shares of Kites and August Skies. His latest gives us something a little different from him, born from a remote collaboration with London based Lorphe, real name Iris Engelen. It’s called Live Away.

By Graeme Smith

Live Away is about the tug of the unknown, the restless desire to move from your hometown to somewhere new. It’s beautifully captured through a delicate, ambient arrangement that’s rich with wistfulness and understated adventure. Will and Iris’s vocals work wonderfully together, and with so much chemistry you wouldn’t know they recorded in different rooms. It might just be Fearn’s best yet.

Joining the two on the track are Antoine Loemba on drums and percussion, with backing vocals from Holly Brooke and Singbabysing. Jon Hucks mixed the track, and Graeme Lynch of Two Zero Nine Mastering mastered it. You can give Live Away a listen below.
