New Music: Fearn – August Skies

Fearn, real name Will Taylor, is a Shoreham-by-Sea-based folk singer songwriter who we’ve featured once before on the blog. His latest track is a team up with Cumbria’s Holly Brooke and it’s called August Skies.

By Graeme Smith

August Skies is an instantly arresting piece. It opens with birdsong and a dramatic orchestral arrangement. Holly’s vocals come in, soft, delicate and inviting. They speak of peaceful moments and being lifted up. Deploying rise and fall beautifully, August Skies is a track that will envelope you and have you hanging on its every word. It really is lovely stuff.

Fearn takes his name from the Gaelic word for alder tree, a piece of nature to which Will feels he can relate. He draws influence from the likes of Bon Iver, Lucy Rose and Poppy Ajudha and fans of any of those artists will find a lot to love in August Skies. You can check it out below.
