Manningtree-based Rebecca Simmonds, who performs as Blenko, has appeared on this blog once before. It was in August this year that she hit my radar thanks to her debut solo single Through Your Teeth. Now she’s back with a new one that explores human relationships. It’s called Only a Matter of Time.

With the characteristic energy we saw in Through Your Teeth, and her previous career as frontwoman of Anna’s Bones, Only a Matter of Time is the kind of electric pop track that will get you swinging. There’s a depth to its lyrics too, and I found myself engrossed in its story of adaption and optimism. Its anthemic chorus is certainly the highlight.
