Oli Barton is a London-based singer songwriter who has just hit my radar through the release of his debut solo single. Unapologetically lingering on past regrets, it’s called It’s Over Now.
By Graeme Smith
Despite its wistful story, It’s Over Now is a lively affair, built from anthemic indie pop hooks and a bouncing beat. Oli’s vocals shine with charm and emotion – they’re infinitely listenable. As a debut, it’s highly polished, and sets him up nicely as an exciting prospect on the UK scene.
Oli honed his craft busking on the streets, quickly discovering how to create a captive audience from passers-by. Though this is his first solo release, he’s got plenty of experience in the industry. He runs his own independent label, Coke & Dagger Records, and has supported artists including Starsailor, Kid Kapichi and Baxter Dury.
It’s Over Now was produced by Alex O’Donovan and mixed by Cenzo Townshend. You can give it a listen below.
