New Music: Oli Morris – Equilibrium

Bristol-based jazz musician Oli Morris first hit my radar around this time last year thanks to his track Flyer. At the time he had just collaborated with Emelie Sandé and since then, he’s been busy working on an EP, A Brief Return to Solitude. Equilibrium is the first single release from the EP.

Equilibrium is a chilled, floaty yet grounded piece of acid jazz. In many ways the title is perfect for the composition, which takes you on highs and lows but always has you levelled out. The highlight, of course, is Oli’s expressive sax playing.

The track features Oli on sax, acoustic guitar, synths and production. Guitar is by Eli Jitsuto, bass by Sam Fox, Rhoades by Ruaridh Wilkinson and drums by Ollie Grant. A Brief Return to Solitude is set for release later this year and you can check out Equilibrium below.
