AGGRASOPPAR is a unique project, creating electronic rap songs with a distinctive edge, such as new release, OMMACHEPANNEKÆK. I decide to find out a little more about this amazing track – see how I got on below!
By Jane Howkins
You recently released a new track called OMMACHEPANNEKÆ. What can you tell us about the song?
It’s a wild tune about grandma’s pancakes. As she is making them and the world is falling apart around her, a new set of pancakes form under her armpits, making it a doubled portion of grandma’s special apocalypse pancakes. What’s not to like?
How has the reception to your track been so far?
It’s been great! People are excited, and so are we.
You also have an EP out this month, titled MIDNÁTTARSAN. What can you tell us about the record?
Yes, MIDNÁTTARSANG just came out this past Friday. It’s the second, more wicked half of our album: døgurðaslang/MIDNÁTTARSANG which is out now. We had a fantastic release event in Tórshavn with three concerts in three seperate locations – places that are in no way concert venues: The National Sea Museum, a hardware store (Borg), and a bed store (Jysk). People were transported around by bus, and had no idea where they were being driven to. It was a blast!
Are there any plans to release a full-length album anytime soon?
The LP record was released thist past friday, check it out here: www.tutlrecords….oppar/
Your music has a really unique sound. What/who are you most influenced by? What have you been listening to recently?
This album has two very different sides. The a-side is inspired by wholesome music, gospel, children’s songs, that kind of stuff. Mostly Faroese influences, actually. The b-side is inspired by music like Death Grips, JPEGMAFIA, Danny Brown, Slowthai, with a Faroese twist.
Do you have anything else exciting coming up over the next few months?
Now that the album is out, we’re thinking about our upcoming shows.
Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?
The Great Escape in May, see you there!
