York Stage brings a brand new production of School of Rock the Musical to the Grand Opera House York this month, perfect for a back-to-school treat!
The show, based on the iconic movie about a failed rock star who fakes it as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school, features a group of super-talented kids, live on stage.
As schools prepare for the new term this week, School Of Rock arrives at the Grand Opera House just at the right time. Similar to York Stage’s recent production of Joseph, this show also includes music by the legendary Andrew Lloyd Webber and will be showing from Friday 13th through to Saturday 21st September.
Kevin Coundon, Director of Operations at York Stage says: “We are really excited to be heading back to the Grand Opera House with School of Rock the Musical, it really is the perfect show to start September. There will be no back-to-school blues for those going to the School of Rock! This show is perfect for all the family, if you’ve seen the film you’ll know how hilarious the story is. In the film, Jack Black plays the lead character Dewey Finn and in our production we’ve got the brilliant Finn East who will leave the audience in stitches with his amazing comic abilities. If you’ve seen him in a York Stage show before you will know what a treat you are in for!”
Based on the Paramount movie written by Mike White. Book by Julian Fellowes, Lyrics by Glenn Slater, Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
