Local rockers The Mood find new lease of life

Originally gigging around York in the early ’90s, The Mood have just uncovered some recordings previously thought lost.

By Graeme Smith

The Mood’s John Moore and Paul Atkinson joined forces with Steve Bradley to originally record the five tracks, but it was thought that the recordings were lost for over 30 years.

Rediscovered, remixed and brought back to life by John Dolby, then remastered and engineered by Rob Hobson at his studio in York, White Rose City is now ready to be enjoyed.

Though the sound is very much of the time, all things come back around and the music on the EP feel right at home in 2024. Across the record we get rock, new wave, power pop, and even a hint of reggae. It’s all soulfully delivered by the vocals, and ably supported by some memorable riffs.

White Rose City will be available to stream late December with a limited run of physical copies available to pick up from Earworm Records on Goodramgate soon.
