American trio Oliver Hazard are back with a six track follow up to their self-titled album. It’s called Raindrop River.

An indie-folk trio based in Waterville, Ohio and consisting of Mike Belazis, Devin East and Nate Miner, Oliver Hazard have appeared on our blog before through their self-titled album, which I ran the rule over in 2023. Now they’re back thanks to their upcoming EP, Raindrop River.
Opening with the warm and gentle Honey I’m Hardly, the EP is an easy collection to get into. Vocal harmonies pair nicely with some timeless Americana during its hopeful tale of romance. Oliver Hazard’s style is simple and effective, and that’s typified perfectly through the EP opener.
Wild Eyed Blue ups the tempo during an adventurous, poetic effort while title track Raindrop River is a lively, nostalgic centrepiece. We get some wonderfully soaring harmonies in a memorable chorus which proves a highlight.
Haunted is a sultry and wistful moment that beautifully blends shades of light and dark. Blood Moon gives us a rousing late-album singalong before The Morning closes the EP with a slow-burning, soul-searching final chapter.
Put simply, Oliver Hazard are classic songwriters. They blend folk, rock and pop in a way that feels reassuringly familiar while also giving us something fresh. Their emotional explorations feel universal while having a distinct point of view. I adore their music.
Raindrop River was produced by Jacquire King and is out 6 December 2024 via Nettwerk.
