Discovery: Leeds’ about-faces inspire us to party in new single

Hailing from down the road in Leeds, about-faces are new to our blog through their nostalgic latest single, Too Old For Fun.

Too Old For Fun is about looking back on the wild abandon of youth and trying to recapture it decades on. There’s, of course, a punchiness to its instrumental, inspiring us to go out and be wild. It’s contrasted nicely by the weariness of the vocals which reminds us to not have too much. The harmonies of its chorus proves a highlight. They urge us to sing along. Just when we get the measure of the track, it breaks down in order to set up its big finish.

Consisting of Sennen Ludman on vocal and guitar, Joseph Schofield on drums, Danielle Capstick on keyboard and vocals, Nigel Ngwenya on bass, and Cormac Connolly on lead guitar, about-faces are a band that I’m looking forward to getting better acquainted with. They’re bringing something fresh to the world of indie rock and join the growing list of acts from our part of the world that demand attention. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re the next big thing on the UK scene.
