Back in January 2025, Caroline in the Garden, the project of singer, songwriter and producer Caroline Milby, teased her debut EP through an unexpected cover Hole’s 1994 hit, Violet. The EP came out later that month, but I’ve only just got around to reviewing it.

Called This Peak, the Atlanta, USA-based artist’s EP is a five track collection that gives us differing shades of alternative and art pop.
Caroline in the Garden follows in the footsteps of trailblazers like Madonna, Tori Amos and Kate Bush while providing her own unique spin on the pop genre. We are treated to this uniqueness right from the off in This Peak. The warm and glowing The Underside gets things going, giving us pleading vocals and an emotionally-charged chorus.
From there we get the moody and groovy title track, This Peak, the cinematic and piano-led Ennui, and the introspective Isolation Inside. The EP is then rounded off by a Power Station Crystal Disco Remix of This Peak which gives the track a funky, soulful twist.
This Peak was recorded in and around Atlanta and Athens, Georgia and was co-produced by Caroline with Luke Mertz of Motion Cntrl. It’s out now, available to buy as a digital album on Bandcamp. You can give it a listen below.
