Exploring themes of attachment and detachment, Untethered is the new album from Connor Roff and SIESKI.
By Graeme Smith
The two Vancouver, Canada-based singer songwriters originally set out to write about the end of a relationship with Untethered, but soon found the theme of the record broadening.
“It was pointing to much more than that, to non-attachment and dis-entangling yourself from anything and all the struggles, grief and euphoria that come with that,” they say.
The album’s title track beautifully brings the concept to the fore with a delicate acoustic, piano-led instrumental and lyrics that are rich with emotion and imagery. The pair trade verses beautifully while their vocals come to get in a rousing, cinematic chorus.
Both artists have appeared on this blog before. Jane ran the rule over Connor’s single Somewhere Green in 2024 while I’ve shared the music of SIESKI three times, most recently in January this year through her ode to Coffee.
