Discovery: Velodrone give us time capsule shoegaze with new single

Acting as an audible time capsule, Velodrone combine original, unreleased tracks from the ’90s with newly written material. They’ve just come to our attention for the first time through their single, Count to Three.

Count to Three is a dreamy, shoegaze-esque rock number that pairs fuzzy guitars with soft vocals that cut through the haze. There are elements of psychedelia, particularly during its slowed-down chorus. It’s one for the swayers out there, bringing to mind the ’80s rock of The Cure and All About Eve.

“Basically [the song is] about coming to realise that the person you thought you were ‘saving’ or helping is actually saving/helping you,” explains band leader Marisa Dewa.

Velodrone formed in 2018 in Los Angeles, USA, when Dewa recruited the talents of Danielle Caseñas and  Zachary Bernstein to form a power trio. They’re certainly an act that I’m looking forward to getting to know better.

Count to Three is out now, available to buy on Bandcamp. You can give it a listen below.
