York’s annual Gothic themed masquerade charity ball returns to De Grey Rooms on Saturday 10 September.
The next Black Rose Ball takes place on Saturday 10 September. This is an annual themed Gothic masquerade ball in aid of charity, raising funds for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.
Over the last 4 years, the ball has grown in to a weekend event with a concert on Friday night and the ball on Saturday evening.
This year, the concert on Friday 9 September features a rare UK performance from Saigon Blue Rain, an exciting and fast upcoming French cold wave act with dreamy ethereal overtones and a an infusion of classic goth rock. They will be supported by well-love local bands Quasimodo and Zeitgeist Zero, each with their own refreshing take on gothic rock.
The Vampire themed masquerade ball takes place on Saturday 10 September in stunning De Grey Rooms; dancing to the best of Goth / Dark Wave / Dark Electro / Mittelalter / Neofolk / New Romantic with DJs Mad Alex, Victoria Fenbane and Rosenkavalier at the decks. Guests will have the chance to try their fortune on the ever popular tombola, have their portrait taken by James Drury and Stephen Parker and to sample some of the exquisite cocktails by the talented mixologists from Orillo Vodka.
The weekend will conclude with a film screening on Sunday 11 September at City Screen of the vampire classic ‘The Hunger’, starring Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie and Susan Sarandon.
All profits are donated to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.
