Brave Vultures, I’m Not Coming Back If You’re Not Here

Essex punk rock band Brave Vultures released their debut E.P. I’m Not Coming Back if You’re Not Here last month.

I’m Not Coming Back If You’re Not Here is the début E.P. from Colchester band Brave Vultures and it’s one of the best releases we’ve heard this year. That’s might sound a bit forward but the music here is absolutely excellent, and it’s certainly well worth the high praise.

In terms of background the band are Essex born and bred, and the fact that this E.P. is their first release is pretty surprising, considering how polished it sounds and how talented the group are. Usually when a band first starts out, their first few releases are rough, raw and basic (to put it bluntly), but I’m Not Coming Back If You’re Not Here isn’t like that at all. Instead, Brave Vultures have put together a collection of five songs that are for the most part incredibly catchy, but not in a lazy way. The hooks here are sophisticated and clever, with an infectious feeling that you won’t be able to get out of your head. This Is Where I Wanna Be is one of the best tracks on the E.P., featuring a marvellous verse vocal melody that subtly morphs into a contagious chorus, alongside urgent riffs that hint at a heavier sound than the pop-punk genre they have currently been pigeonholed into.

They also seem fairly able to exhibit the softer side of pop-punk too, with Safe Ground and If You Run running at a slightly slower tempo and softer speed. It’s good to hear that a band can experiment and tap into different sounds, especially at such a young age.

It will definitely be interesting to see where Brave Vultures can go with their sound, considering how good it is already. Whilst currently existing within the pop-punk style (and that isn’t a bad thing, never mind the naysayers), they have the potential to expand further into the punk genre, and we can’t wait to listen to their next release when it arrives. If you need any more convincing to check these guys out then the song Don’t Let Me Down is also highly recommended. It’s one of the catchiest things we’ve ever heard from a pop-punk band, which is saying something!

Brave Vulture’s E.P. I’m Not Coming Back if You’re Not Here is available now.
