Adam Kills Eve, Of Time

Italian screamo band Adam Kills  Eve have released their latest E.P. Of Time all about contradictions of time perception.

By Jane Howkins.

Italian ‘screamo’ group Adam Kills Eve recently released an E.P. called Of Time, and it’s come at just the right time for the band. Having toured their home country many times in the past decade or so, they are finally coming to the U.K. to play a tour here for the first time, which is very exciting. Thankfully, Of Time is a fun release that should hopefully have helped to increase the band’s stature, just in time for their January tour.

Lead single Authenti(city) is a shining example of what Adam Kills Eve can do, showing the way the band are able to blend poppy melodies with harsh post-hardcore musicalities. This musical sensibility is at the heart of what the Italian group do, and they do it well. This genre is one that often tries to pride itself on being ‘tough’ or ‘hardcore’, so it’s nice to see a band that aren’t afraid to tap into that side of their sound, even if it’s a little generic at times.

If you’re looking for a comparison point, Adam Kills Eve are probably best compared with groups like You Me At Six, Deaf Havana, Lower Than Atlantis, and Mayday Parade, and if you’re into any of those bands then you will find something to like here. The genre they inhabit is definitely an acquired taste and one that has had a lot of criticism over the years, but as a band, Adam Kills Eve certainly have the experience and style to be put on the same pedestal as their peers. If their U.K. tour is a success (and to be perfectly honest we don’t see why it wouldn’t be), then we hope that they can continue to release more music and perform on these shores again.
