Ninebarrow

Ninebarrow at ThorganbyFolk, a rising Force in English Folk Music Coming to this village on the 28th May.

ThorganbyFolk is a group of 4 friends and family who love folk music. We want to bring great folk music to our local village hall. Building on the legacy of the famous folk nights at the Ferry Inn in Thorganby and acoustic nights at the Jefferson Arms we set about bringing some big names to Thorganby and to raise funds for local charities. We didn’t believe that big names would come to a little village like Thorganby, but how wrong could we be?!! So far, we have hosted Steve Knightley (from Show of Hands) and O’Hooley and Tidow on two occasions. Encouraged by our success we have approached Ninebarrow and they have said yes! Any profits from this gig will be donated to the local Ebor Vale Riding for the Disabled Association branch based near Pocklington (which supports riders from York, North Yorkshire and the East Riding).

ThorganbyFolk’s Jon Kenny said:

“I’m very excited to be playing host to Ninebarrow. They are rapidly rising stars of the folk scene, having been nominated for the recent Radio 2 folk awards in the Horizon category and have developed an impressive repertoire”

“Now we just need to fill the hall with people enjoying folk music, local beer and craft cider and a great Thorganby welcome”.

The Gig is being organised by Liz Allen on behalf of ThorganbyFolk. Liz commented,

“I’m also delighted that we will be raising funds for Ebor Vale Riding for the Disabled. They are an amazing organisation, run entirely by volunteers and dependent on local fundraising to keep going. My son Tommy rides with them every week. As well as being great fun, riding is a really important form of physical therapy.”
