In honour of the annual Slam Dunk Festival next weekend, we sat down with a bunch of bands playing at the festival to get to know them a little more, and find out just why our dear readers should go and see them at the festival.
Our next interview is with Brent Taddie and Brandon Hoover from Crown The Empire!
You’re playing at Slam Dunk Festival this year – are you excited?
Brent – We’re aways excited to play in the U.K. We can never come here enough. The energy and response from the U.K. fans has been unbelievable every time.
How does a festival show differ from a normal gig for you, and which do you prefer? What are your favourite festivals to go to or play at?
Brent – Well, it’s always a different element playing outside, with rain and heat being potential factors. We actually just got back from playing Pulp Summer Slam in The Philippines, which was an amazing festival, but also extremely hot and humid . So hopefully Slam Dunk will get us ready for the weather on Warped Tour this summer.
Have you been to the festival before? What other acts are you looking forward to seeing, and who can you recommend our readers check out?
Brent – We actually performed at Slam Dunk back in 2014 and the shows were absolutely brilliant. I think everyone in the band is stoked to see Taking Back Sunday and our label-mates PVRIS.
The Festival is now on three sites, with one in Leeds, Hatfield, and Birmingham. Which site do you think will be the best to perform on, and which are you looking forward to visiting the most?
Brent – Honestly, we have no idea. Most festival grounds look the same but the U.K. always goes hard so we know the shows will be lit!
Are you touring alongside the festival? If so, where and when are you playing?
Unfortunately not, we’re just coming over for Slam Dunk and then it’s back to the states to get ready for the Vans Warped Tour.
Are you releasing any new music soon? If so, what can you tell us about it?
Brent – We’ll be playing a new song called 20/20 for the first time in the U.K. at Slam Dunk. I can’t tell you about a release date yet or what’s happening behind the scenes though. But let me tell you it’s juicy!
Why do you think people should come and see you perform live, and what can people expect from your show at Slam Dunk?
Brandon – Our shows are all about the energy and vibe. If you’re looking to be apart of something exciting, then come and watch us!
Any last words for the fans?
Brent – Love you all. See you soon!
