Hansel + Gretal is a musical re-telling of the famous fairytale that features the characters of the same name, set instead in today’s harsh and modern America.

It’s the second track to be released from Jon Freeman’s American Grimm, and the fairytale metaphor that encapsulates Freeman’s song is very poignant indeed, with his vocals and the female backing vocals that accompany them seemingly acting as Hansel and Gretal. In terms of the music itself, Hansel + Gretal is a folk track, albeit one that sounds more modern than traditional.

If you like music with a bit of depth, then the stylings of Jon Freeman may be just the ticket.
